Brandon King was born on Jan. 28, 1987 and grew up in Warner Robbins, Georgia. He attended Houston County High School and played basketball and football.

As a high school football athlete, Brandon King had an especially strong senior year. He was considered by to be the 69th best athlete in the U.S. and the 40th best player in Georgia. He earned a ranking of first team all-state in his spot as quarterback. By the end of his senior season, Brandon King accumulated 1,002 rushing yards, 29 touchdowns and 900 passing yards.

In 2005, Brandon King played on reserve and special teams. He participated in all 11 games. In 2006, he didn't play but was nominated as the Most Improved Award - Defense during the spring season. In 2007, Brandon King was a starter for all 13 games. He made 44 tackles with one interception and three pass breakups.

In 2008, Brandon King was a starter for all 12 games. He ended the season ranked second on the Purdue Boilermakers football team with 9 pass breakups. He was also fifth with 48 tackles.
